Camp Anothen has been licensed through The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) since our first season in 2016. We have been officially licensed by DSHS for 2026.
Our staff is carefully selected through an application, interview, reference-check, and training process.
All adult staff must complete third-party background screening before working at camp, including a Multi-Jurisdictional Database and Sex Offender Search.
Our staff are trained in child safety, weather safety, emergency procedures, camper supervision and abuse prevention, mandatory reporting responsibilities and our Never Alone / Rule of Three policy.
These are non-negotiable standards that help protect campers and staff, support transparency, and build a culture of trust across our camp community. Staff must complete training and demonstrate understanding of these safety expectations before serving with campers.
